Temple Beth El offers a Jewish education program for children from preschool through high school. We offer encouragement and support to the family as our partners in Jewish education. Our youth group programs for grades 7 to 12 supplement the Temple School experience with the social component.
We also offer Camp Kayetz, a fun summer day program for campers aged 6 to 12 and counselors in training aged 12 to 15.
Temple School
Our religious school program prepares students for the Bar/ Bat Mitzvah and Confirmation while it gives them these invaluable lessons:
- a positive Jewish identity
- an understanding of Jewish perspectives on God
- their own personal relationship to God
- the ability to apply personal and social ethics of Judaism
- a knowledge of Jewish rituals and the skills to practice them
- a working knowledge of Hebrew sufficient for prayer and lifelong celebration of Judaism
- knowledge of the basic Shabbat prayer service
- the ability to participate meaningfully in personal and communal Jewish worship
- an understanding of the history of the Jewish people
- recognition of Israel's importance to the world
- appreciation for and commitment to the State of Israel
- an appreciation of our responsibility to K'lal Yisrael

Upcoming Temple School Events
Sunday School
Students come to Temple School for two of the three hours on Sundays. The first hour, which begins at 9:30, and the third hour, which begins at 11:30, are the small-group hours when the grade may be divided for greater focus.
All students attend the second hour, also known as the "overlap" which runs from 10:30 to 11:30. During the overlap, students have the opportunity to participate in Jewish Arts in large groups. At 11:00, all parents are encourages to join the 3rd to 6th graders for our Shacharit service.
Wednesday School
The 4th, 5th, and 6th graders meet Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Students study both Judaic subjects and Hebrew.
Bar/Bat Mitzvah Program
This program for B'nai mitzvah candidates (7th grade) and their families meets on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and also has four family learning weekend sessions in the fall and winter months. On Wednesday evenings, students study Hebrew and the history of modern Israel. The four weekend sessions, conducted by our clergy team, lead students and their parents on an exploration of Jewish views of God, Torah study for modern understanding, the structure of the Shabbat morning service, Jewish ritual, mitzvot, Jewish values, and the B'nai mitzvah experience.
Hebrew High School
Our program for post-B'nai Mitzvah students (8th to 10th grade) meets on Wednesday evenings, 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Course offerings include core classes required for Confirmation and elective courses on Jewish life, culture, and thought.
