Jewish End of Life Ceremonies in the library

Sunday, February 22, 2026 5 Adar 5786

2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Presenter: Rabbi Lori Klein, of Santa Cruz Community Chevra Kadisha, Hospital Chaplain at both Stanford Hospital and CHOMP (Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula).

The Hebrew word for funeral is "levaya", which refers to accompaniment. When someone we care about dies, we and the Infinite Oneness accompany them. We are accompanied by our loved ones, our community and the Holy One of Being.

In this workshop we will focus on the emotional and spiritual aspects, uses, and benefits of Jewish end-of-life ceremonies, rituals, and practices starting from shortly before death and ending at 30 days after.
