Repair, Reuse, Refashion Workshop with Gaby Litsky
Space is limited to 12 people
Sponsored by Santa Cruz Interfaith Dayenu Circle and TBE Lifelong Learning
Learn how to creatively mend your clothes and refashion thrift store finds. In this class, Gaby will demonstrate fashionable mending stitches and techniques, including stamping, boro, stencils, Shashiko, and patches, and how to repurpose garments. A list of vintage, thrift and second hand stores in Santa Cruz County and a supply resource list will be provided.
There will be hands-on opportunities to try some of these techniques. Fabric and supplies will be provided. You are also welcome to bring a piece from your own wardrobe.
TBE member Gaby Litsky is an experienced quilter and sewer and has pursued art quilting for many years. Along with some members of Pajaro Valley Quilt Association, Gaby started exploring techniques for repurposing garments and found several creative, low cost options for up-cycling and repurposing garments instead of sending the clothes to the landfill.
