In 1939, 7 year-old Gitta Ryle and her 10 year-old sister were sent from Austria to Paris to escape the Germans. As one of France’s Hidden Children, she spent 7 years moving around the country to hide from the Nazis. Gitta found refuge in various places, including a chateau, an orphanage, a Catholic convent and a family farm. When the war was over, Ryle and her sister were reunited with their mother, but later learned that their father had died in Auschwitz. Gitta tells her story so that people will never forget the Holocaust.
