Senior Connections-Film:Leaving Memel-Refugees from the Reich-SH
Monday, July 22, 2019 • 19 Tammuz 5779
1:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Followed by a Q and A with the film's director.
This is a film based on the life events of Cherie Goren and her family, who were forced to leave their home in Memel, now Klaipeda, Lithuania, when the Nazis took over the country in 1939. Cherie’s story is captured in this remarkable film by producer Fred Finkelstein, Cherie’s nephew. The film has been screened throughout the U.S. and in Europe to great acclaim. Its depiction of survival is a story that is both specific to one family and universal.
