RSVP NOW for the Tour! It fills up fast.

Back by popular demand, Brotherhood is sponsoring “Under the Boardwalk,” a FREE behind-the-scenes tour of the Santa Cruz Boardwalk for temple members. This event SOLD OUT the last two times Brotherhood and the Boardwalk sponsored this tour.

TBE’s own Marq Lipton will lead us on a rare expedition to explore the secrets under the Boardwalk, unseen by the public, where only we fortunate few will venture. Marq reports that there’s even some Jewish history at the Boardwalk. Meet at the merry-go-round for the approximately 90-minute tour. But you must RSVP to Dan Iuster at as soon as possible. Reservations will be cut off once we reach the maximum number that the Boardwalk can accommodate.

First come, first served!

For those who would like to enjoy an early lunch, we’re planning a group feast in the party room at the bowling alley at 11:30 AM. Watch for details on menu and cost. You’re also welcome to enjoy the limited Boardwalk rides and games, indoor arcades, mini golf, laser tag and delicious foods. This is going to be a fun-filled day!

Brotherhood Brunch
CASA: A Voice for Children at Risk
Speaker: Jimmy Cook, CASA Program Director and Youth Advocate

Sunday, January 5, 10:00 AM
Every year nearly 400 children in Santa Cruz County are involved in the Juvenile Dependency Care System (foster care) due to abuse or neglect. The cases with the most critical needs are referred to CASA to be matched with a Volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate. Our speaker is the Program Director for CASA of Santa Cruz County, Jimmy Cook. Jimmy was a Social Worker Supervisor with Santa Cruz County Health and Human Services for six years before joining CASA in 2012, and he is now an instrumental part of a four-county pilot program in California that intends to provide youth in the Juvenile Justice System with Advocates. Hear inspirational stories of how just one person contributing a few hours per week can make a significant impact for children and youth affected by trauma. Beginning at 10:00 AM, we'll enjoy our always delicious bagel and lox brunch, take care of a little Brotherhood business, followed by Jimmy's talk at 11:00, concluding before noon. Recommended donation is $5 for Brotherhood members and $7 for non-members.
