Plaques for Walls of Remembrance
The Wall of Remembrance, located at Home of Peace Cemetery, is the only public Holocaust Memorial between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Individual bronze plaques that honor and commemorate those who perished in the Holocaust and survivors who are now deceased are placed on the interior wall of the memorial where there is a bench and a place to meditate or pray.
The outside wall offers a place for Temple Beth El (TBE) congregants and family to memorialize loved ones who are not buried at Home of Peace.
This memorial, built to honor the more than six millions Jews killed in the Holocaust and the survivors who have since passed, serves as a teaching tool to bring greater awareness to our history, injustice and tolerance.
Any resident of Santa Cruz County may purchase a plaque for:
A Holocaust victim
A Holocaust survivor who is now deceased
Anyone who has been a TBE congregant for five consecutive years may purchase a plaque for a loved one not buried at Home of Peace (on the non-Holocaust side of the wall)
A waiting list will be created for anyone wishing to purchase a plaque, but who does not meet the criteria to purchase at the time.
Individual bronze plaques cost $600 and are 8 inches by 3 inches. Each line will have a maximum of 35 characters including spaces with a maximum of three lines.
Installations of individual plaques will take place twice a year around the Holocaust memorial remembrance and before Yom Kippur.
