Rock Shabbat

Watch one of Rock Shabbat’s Greatest Hits

We are very excited about this service, which features our entire Rock Shabbat Band plus Cantor Alisa Feinman, Andy and Jeremy Yanowitz and many more special guests. Click here to watch.

A big thank you to Andy Yanowitz for putting together this "sing along" virtual Friday night Shabbat service, composed of songs from more than 11 years of Rock Shabbat at Temple Beth El. Some songs we’ve previously posted, and some new ones as well. And thanks to all of you for 11+ years of making Rock Shabbat a magical, and important part of our Temple community.

Hope we get to be together again soon.

Once upon a Shabbat, there was this beautiful service that appeared on the horizon. All the congregants were in awe. Gorgeous melodies abounded. Families swayed together to the beat. A community was reaffirmed. All was good in the Land of Temple Beth El. Rock Shabbat prospered and its offspring, Beth El Bim Bam (formerly known as Tot Rock Shabbat), brought special joy to youngsters and their families.

The magic of Rock Shabbat and Beth El Bim Bam is made possible by the rich, creative sounds of our Rock Shabbat Band: Michael Levy (piano), Rabbi Paula Marcus (guitar, vocals), Rabbi Shifra Weiss-Penzias (vocals), Peter Weiss (guitar, vocals), Dror Sinai (percussion, vocals), Shahir Elshyeb (bass), Shmuel Thaler (harmonica), and guest artists. Andy Yanowitz handles the sound and light systems. It's a tremendous draw for younger families and prospective members. The Janet Rothchild Rock Shabbat Fund is once again the generous season underwriter for both Rock Shabbat and Beth El Bim Bam Shabbat. Check the schedule above to let us know if you or your family, friends, chavurah or business wants to sponsor a Rock Shabbat or Beth El Bim Bam Shabbat. If you'd like to make sure these magical musical experiences continue, contact the Temple office (479-3444), Gail Michaelis-Ow (423-0128 or, or Michael Rein (440-9835 or
