Mitzvah Day 2022, Sunday January 16 9am-12pm
Help make a positive impact in Santa Cruz County by working together with other Temple members.
Arrive at 9:00 AM and wear your Mitzvah Day t-shirt if you have one! This annual Temple-wide event brings together Temple School students, families, and individuals from seniors to youth groupers and preschoolers!
We’ll gather outside with masks at the temple at 9:00 AM (weather permitting – if it rains we will postpone.) You will meet your teammates, get your t-shirt, make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for people experiencing homelessness, and add a note to go with the sandwich.
We have some really big plans for Mitzvah Day this year, and we want everyone to get involved. We will have projects at Simcha Preschool and cleaning up the beach, but our really ambitious undertaking this year is cleaning up our cemetery in Soquel, Beit Olam. There is lots to do and we need folks of all skill levels and abilities. We also need some equipment, so if you have week whackers, shovels, wheelbarrows, saws or gardening shears that you are willing to bring, please contact Melissa.
We are also looking for someone who has a bit of skill and experience with masonry to fill and smooth cracks in a wall with mortar. If you have this type of experience and are willing to help, please contact Melissa.

BEACH CLEAN UP
Local beaches, Rio Del Mar Beach
PROJECTS AT SOQUEL CEMETERY
Help clean headstones and clear debris. Please bring water, gloves, soft brushes (to clean the headstones), rake, garden tools, wheel barrow (if you have them). There will a shed that will be demolished. Bring work gloves and garden tools.
PROJECTS AT TEMPLE BETH EL
Help paint a shed for Simcha Preschool
Weed the community garden and areas around it.
