In her recent book, Anti-Semitism Here and Now, Dr. Deborah Lipstadt, a noted authority on the subject, warns that both right-wing white supremacism and much of left wing anti-Zionism, are equally dangerous and rampant forms of anti-semitism today. Not all criticism of Israel is anti-semitism, but some forms of it definitely are.
We will explore what constitutes this form of anti-semitism, which has spread across American college campuses leading to discrimination and even persecution of many Jewish college students. In fact, according to the American Jewish Committee, 42% of American Jewish college students and their parents have experienced or known someone who has experienced anti-semitism on campus. The vast majority are the result of this form of anti-semitism. In addition, efforts to delegitimize the State of Israel are part of a purposeful campaign to eliminate the State of Israel. We’ll examine what we can and should be doing to counter this form of anti-semitism which constitutes a threat to American Jewish college students and to the existence of the State of Israel itself.
