Santa Cruz Jewish Film Club Discussion on Zoom

Sunday, December 4, 2022 10 Kislev 5783

7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
The Santa Cruz Jewish Film Club invites you to the movies! Two films currently in theaters seem worthy of a movie ticket. Steven Spielberg's semi-autoiographical comng-of-age film,The Fabelmans is getting a lot of advertising promotion. Almost invisible in its marketing, and arguably a more sophisticated movie, She Said tells the story of two female reporters with the New York Times, one Jewish, who launched the MeToo movement with their published allegations of sexual predation by film mogul Harvey Weinstein.

Young Sammy Fabelman aspires to be a filmmaker and through film discovers a secret that shatters his family. Steven Spielberg and Tony Kushner wrote The Fabelmans loosely based on Spielberg's childhood growing up in post-World War II era Arizona.

The Fabelmans comes to the
Del Mar Theatre on Wednesday, November 23. Check with the theater directly for showtimes.

New York Times reporters Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor break one of the most important stories in a generation - a story that helped ignite a movement and shattered decades of silence around the subject of sexual assault in Hollywood.

She Said is currently screening at the Cineluxe Scotts Valley.  Catch it before it leaves!
Here is an interesting article on SHE SAID from The Forward:
