Keira Knightly provides the voice for Charlotte in this hand-drawn animation project designed for a mature audience. Charlotte is a courageous young Jewish artist from Berlin who paints in a raw and surreal style. Her whimsical and provocative paintings help her come to terms with the trauma in her life. The beautiful images in Charlotte are inevitably heartbreaking. Her mother's luminous green necklace, snowfall in Berlin swirling through cruelty and fire, and her haunting premonitions provoke Charlotte's imagination, insight, and determination. As viciousness and sadness whirl all around her she navigates an increasingly challenging quest for survival and self-expression.
