Friday, May 16, 2025 18 Iyar 5785

7:30 PM - 8:30 PM

graduation caps in the skyIn response to the most recent PVUSD school board meeting, we are dedicating time this Shabbat for the congregation to come together and share concerns and reactions to these events and other contentious encounters here in Santa Cruz County and beyond. Rabbi Shifra invites all congregants to attend this service which will include a presentation by County Supervisor and TBE member Kim DeSerpa, who will present a resolution by the Board of Supervisors declaring May as Jewish American Heritage Month and will speak on the topic Why Remain Vigilant. The service will be followed by a moderated listening and discussion session exploring the relationship and differences between criticism of the Israeli government, anti-Zionism, and antisemitism, all of which are prevalent in our world today.

We recognize that TBE members hold a range of opinions on these matters, and we are committed to being a “big tent” in which feelings and opinions can be heard and respected.

Please feel free to spread the word to TBE members who may be interested.

Thank you so much for signing up to bring food for the oneg.  When there is food, people schmooze, and that helps create community.  So this is a really big mitzvah, and we really appreciate it.
