Big Basin Wildflower Hike

Come join TBE for a wildflower hike in Big Basin
Last fall, about fifteen stalwart TBE hikers enjoyed the fog (and, to be honest, a bit of drizzle) and counted more than 80 banana slugs in Big Basin State Park. Guided by TBE’s own Mimi Guiney, a former State Park Ranger who spent 20 years at Big Basin, we got to view the ongoing recovery from the 2020 CZU wildfire and heard that last spring there was a fantastic wildflower bloom. Most of us want to go back and see if it will happen again this spring.
So, we will meet on Sunday, April 7, at 10:00 a.m. in the Big Basin parking lot. Reservations for parking are not required, but are encouraged due to the limited amount of first-come, first-served parking available. You can go to https://www.cognitoforms.com/FSCSP1/bigbasinparking to reserve your parking space. The parking fee is $6 per vehicle plus a $2 reservation fee or $10 per vehicle without a reservation.
This will be a fairly easy, level hike of about 3-4 miles, up the N. Escape Rd. to the old Founders Grove. Be sure to bring water for the hike and wear a hat (shade can still be a bit sparse). Think about bringing a snack or lunch and we can sit together afterwards in the amphitheater or picnic area.
RSVPs aren’t necessary, but please let Andrea Yanowitz andrea@yanomedia.com know if you’re planning to attend (so we don’t set out on the hike without you if you are a bit late) or if you have any questions.
This activity is being organized by TBE’s Membership/Engagement Committee.
